Whisper, a leading multi-genre production company, has been named a 2023 Broadcast Best Places to Work. It’s the sixth consecutive time Whisper’s achieved the award, meaning the company has retained the title since it first gained it in 2017.
After several years of growth, The Whisper Group now has five different office hubs across the globe and over 230 team members. Retaining the award is even more valuable to the team this year, as it’s been achieved as the company has continued to expand - producing big ticket shows like Riddiculous, Formula One for C4, the 2022 Women's EURO for BBC and Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes with Sam Mendes for Amazon Prime.
Each year the Broadcast Best Places to Work scheme identifies and recognises the best employers in TV. The scheme assesses companies via a survey process which goes to all staff and evaluates everything from leadership and planning, to corporate culture, work environment, training, salaries and experience. The score determines who is recognised as a Best Place to Work.
Since 2010, Whisper has focused on working with the industry’s best and nurturing new talent. Team members enjoy flexible working hours, free counselling and legal advice, a profit-sharing scheme, free breakfast, early finish Fridays and a diverse and inclusive working environment with free social events.
The company also runs an internship programme in Partnership with Brentford FC to offer new talent a way into the industry, as well as an award-winning ‘Get Involved’ campaign aimed at attracting a wider range of talent to the company from under-represented groups.
Sunil Patel, Whisper Co-Founder and CEO: “We focus a lot on culture at Whisper. From our early beginnings, it’s always been crucial that we maintain who we are and how we do things as we grow. To see our team of over 230 people around the world delivering iconic moments like the Women’s EURO, The Paralympics or a brand-new ITV gameshow, in our own Whisper way means an enormous amount.
“It’s people that make Whisper what it is. We believe the team should represent the world in which we work and feel valued and happy. We’re always seeking feedback on ways we can improve and implementing as many measures as we can to ensure teams feels rewarded with a good work/life balance.”
Some of the comments from the team survey include: ‘Personal and friendly’, ‘Strong leadership and direction’, ‘Emphasis on creativity, diversity and team work’ and ‘An incredibly positive environment to be in’.
Whisper now has offices in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Maidenhead and Auckland, and The Whisper Group includes Whisper, Whisper Cymru, Whisper North, Whisper West, Chapter 3 Graphics, East Media and Moonshine Features.
