LONDON 28 August 2026 – Whisper TV, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, unscripted entertainment, events and esports, today sees the launch of “Meet the Owens”, a six-part docuseries produced by Whisper, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from today at no additional cost to Prime members. All six episodes are available now.
“Meet the Owens” follows a year in the life of former England striker Michael Owen, his wife Louise, and their four children, Gemma, James, Emily and Jessica as they juggle a horse racing business while contending with a chaotic home life.
Since retiring from a Ballon d’Or-winning football career, Michael Owen has built a horse racing business to compete at the biggest events in the world, but keeping the stables afloat is getting harder every year. At home, he and Louise are preparing for life as empty nesters: youngest Jessica dreams of becoming a showjumping Olympic champion; Emily, 18, is trying to become the first Owen to go to university; and James, 20, wants to join the family business. Meanwhile eldest daughter Gemma, a presenter with millions of social media followers, is swapping the screen for the saddle, training at her dad’s stables with the goal of racing at Glorious Goodwood.
To bring the series to life, Whisper brought together an industry-leading creative team. “Meet the Owens” is directed by Emmy-nominated Chris Wallwork (Born Racers) and produced by Chris Grubb (Sven, Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes), Drew Masters (14 Peaks, Built in Birmingham), Will Yapp (Clarkson’s Farm, The Reluctant Traveler), Christian Cerami (Molly-Mae: Behind it All), Mark Cole (Sven), and Whisper co-founders Jake Humphrey and Sunil Patel.
The series continues Whisper’s run of premium sports documentary storytelling for global streamers, following the multi-Emmy and Grierson-nominated “Sven” and “Built in Birmingham: Brady & The Blues”.
Chris Wallwork, Director of Meet the Owens, said: “It has been such a privilege for our crew and our cameras to be welcomed so openly into the Owen family for the last 18 months. It’s a testament to them and the access they allowed us that this series is such an authentic and relatable insight into their lives. Personally, I’ve loved every minute of making this show – making new friends on location and being inspired by the hard work and talent of our team working behind the scenes back at Whisper!”
All six episodes of “Meet the Owens” are available to stream exclusively on Prime Video now.
