LONDON 28 August 2026 – Whisper TV, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, unscripted entertainment, events and esports, today announced that it is producing “Breaking Spencer Matthews”, a Hulu Original feature-length documentary for Disney+, following Spencer Matthews as he attempts one of the most demanding endurance challenges ever undertaken.
The film follows Matthews as he takes on seven full-distance 140-mile triathlons across all seven continents in just 21 days. Beyond the physical challenge, the documentary explores men’s mental health, identity, addiction and grief, including Matthews’ processing of his brother’s death on an Everest expedition. It comes three years after Matthews’ first Disney+ film, “Finding Michael”.
“Breaking Spencer Matthews” is directed by Chris Grubb and produced by Drew Masters, Daniel Tait and Tom Beard. It was commissioned by Angela Jain, Head of Content, Disney+ EMEA, and Sean Doyle, VP, Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA. The film joins other Disney+ UK Original unscripted commissions including “Blind Date”, a Duffy feature-length documentary, “Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth” and “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story”.
Building on Whisper’s award-winning documentary heritage, including “Ben Stokes: Phoenix From The Ashes” and “Sven”, the production continues the company’s reputation for earning the access and trust that character-led storytelling demands.
Spencer Matthews said: ‘This challenge has become about far more than completing seven Ironman’s across all seven continents. What began as extreme physical pursuit has evolved into a journey of self-discovery and transformation.’
Sunil Patel, Whisper founder and CEO, said: ‘Spencer is attempting something that, on paper, shouldn’t be possible but the physical challenge is only half of this film. What makes it special is what Spencer is willing to confront along the way. Open, honest and thought provoking.
Whisper has built its reputation on earning the trust of high-profile individuals and organisations to tell their stories properly with care, class and creative flare. The responsibility and opportunity to be curating this incredible human endeavor for Spencer and Disney+ is another huge moment for the team at Whisper.’
